Chas Coutlee

MMIWG Coordinator

Chas Coutlee is a dedicated Coordinator for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, serving the Vancouver Coastal region. She is grateful to live, work, and heal in the beautiful, shared territories of the Musqueum, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. She is Nlaka’pamux on her mother’s side and a Lower Nicola Band member and third generation Irish settler on her father’s side. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Nicola Valley Institute of Technology and a Master of Indigenous Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University. Chas is deeply passionate about advocating for Indigenous peoples and communities, working tirelessly to support those impacted by intergenerational impacts.

Chas’s work is rooted in the importance of cultural resilience, recognizing the strength and wisdom inherent in Indigenous traditions and practices. She is committed to a wholistic approach to healing that encompasses emotional, spiritual, physical, and intellectual wellness. Chas is also deeply dedicated to intergenerational healing, understanding the vital role it plays in the well-being of Indigenous communities.

She feels profoundly honored to walk alongside and learn from the individuals and communities she serves, drawing inspiration from their resilience and courage. In addition to her professional role, Chas is a proud mother and grandmother, cherishing the opportunity to contribute to the well-being and empowerment of Indigenous communities. She is privileged to work with the Indian Residential School Survivors Society, where she continues to make a meaningful impact.
