Clarification Regarding FNHA Changes to Mental Health Coverage Eligibility
In consideration of the discussions surrounding mental health and wellness providers with the First Nations Health Authority, the Indian Residential School Survivors Society (IRSSS) would like to affirm that our services remain available.
Support staff with the IRSSS can provide emotional support and cultural support on a short-term basis to those in need within the province of BC. We offer support to survivors of the Indian Residential School system, intergenerational survivors, and their families; as well as those impacted by Indian Day Schools and Missing Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls. We also have a 24-hour crisis line available (Lamathut 24/7 Crisis Line: 1-800-721-0066), accessible at any time.
As an independent non-profit organization, our services for emotional and cultural support are available without cost to clients. We are not able to provide funding or financial support.
With 30 years in operation, the IRSSS will continue to strive to provide culturally-based support for survivors, families, and First Nations communities.
